DLSA Samba holds awareness program for students of GHS Badhori

SAMBA: Under able aegis of JKLSA and as per the Action plan for the month of May, 2023 issued by Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority (JKLSA) and also under the radiant guidance of Yesh Paul Kotwal, Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Samba (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge Samba), District Legal Services Authority, Samba today organised an awareness program in the Government High School, Badhori, Raya, to mark the observance of “Anti Tobacco Day‘’(2023) under the theme “We need Food not Tobacco.”

Dr. Geetanjali Rajput, MLHP, Block Purmundal was  the resource person. She highlighted the hazards of smoking and other tobacco products and said quitting this habit is best for the health of an individual addicted to it.  She also educated the student participants about the health risks associated with tobacco use, including smoking and smokeless tobacco products.

Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary, DLSA Samba also spoke as to how a balanced diet is essential for students in order to maintain their physical and mental well being and how education  plays an important role in eradicating the evils like drug abuse and use of Tobacco. The objective of organizing the awareness camp was to raise the awareness among the students on the risks posed by tobacco smoking and magnitude of death and illness globally from lung diseases caused by tobacco including Chronic Respiratory diseases and lung cancer.

The proceedings of the program were conducted by Hitesh Sharma, Panel Advocate District Legal Services Authority Samba.

The program was attended by students, faculty members of the Govt. High School Badhori, Raya, Samba and Para Legal Volunteers of District Legal Services Authority Samba. At the end of the Program, light refreshment was also served among students.
