District Ganderbal witnesses historic special Lok-Adalat for revenue cases

GANDERBAL:  In a groundbreaking initiative, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal, in collaboration with the District Administration Ganderbal,  organized a special Lok Adalat for revenue cases in the district Ganderbal.

The event was held under the supervision of Abdul Nasir, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge), Ganderbal, and guidance of Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal.

The Lok-Adalat was inaugurated by an elderly man who was a litigant, marking a significant moment in the event. The inauguration was attended by  officers, including Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal, Gulzar Ahmad and other revenue officers of District Ganderbal. 

The Secretary of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal while addressing to litigants, highlighted the significance and benefits of this alternative dispute resolution mechanism. 

By emphasizing the importance of Lok Adalat, Secretary aimed to promote awareness about the benefits of resolving disputes through this platform.

This pioneering effort marked a significant milestone in the district’s revenue courts history, showcasing the unwavering commitment of DLSA Ganderbal and the District Administration to provide swift and efficient justice to the people, especially in revenue cases.

In a significant move, two benches were constituted and setup at the Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Ganderbal to hear and resolve the revenue cases amicably.

 The first bench was comprised of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal and Tehsildar, Ganderbal which was presided by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal. The second bench was comprised of  Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Ganderbal, Mohammad Altaf Bhat,  Tehsildar, Lar and Tehsildar, Wakoora which was presided by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Ganderbal. 

Overall, 09 revenue cases were taken up in the said Lok-Adalat, wherein 07 revenue cases were amicably settled in the said Lok-Adalat. This impressive settlement rate showcases the effectiveness of Lok Adalats in resolving disputes efficiently, in the revenue matters as well.

The special Lok Adalat was convened to address revenue cases, providing a platform for the resolution of disputes and promoting access to justice for all. 

Moreover, law students of various colleges of Kashmir also participated in the said Lok-Adalat and observed proceedings of the Lok-Adalat and gained practical exposure during the event.
