RAJOURI: Director Rural Sanitation, Charandeep Singh, embarked on a productive 3-day tour of Rajouri and Poonch districts focusing on the assessment of sanitation initiatives and fostering solid and liquid waste management.
Joined by Assistant Commissioner (Panchayats) Poonch, Sheraz Chouhan, DPO Auqil Nuvaid, and the Block Development Officers of the respective Blocks, Director Charandeep Singh’s visit was marked by a series of impactful engagements.
The journey commenced with a warm reception by Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Sheraz Chouhan, at B.G Top. The Director’s first stop was a constructive interaction with the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) of Block Manjakote, during which numerous pertinent issues and feedback were discussed.
Subsequently, Director Charandeep Singh convened a meeting with the Rural Development Department (RDD) staff and PRIs of Block Manjakote, delving into the vital facets of ongoing projects.
Continuing his tour, Director Charandeep Singh conducted an inspection of assets completed under the Swachh Bharat Mission in Panjgarain Block.
A comprehensive review meeting followed, involving all Block Development Officers (BDOs) and staff, affording Director Singh an opportunity to gauge progress and address challenges within the Rural Development Department. A visit to the PMU unit at Bathuni was also part of this segment.
With a resolute focus on community engagement, Director Charandeep Singh issued a directive to BDOs and RDD staff to proactively raise awareness among the public regarding the significance of solid and liquid waste management. He underscored the necessity for behavioral change and encouraged the adoption of sustainable practices.
During his visit, Director Singh made a significant stop at Sarhanoo Bridge Panchayat in Block Dhangri. Here, he interacted with PRIs, inaugurated a PMU unit, and scrutinized the execution of the Plastic Waste Management Unit at Sangpur Narriyan West. In addition, he inspected Amritsarovar at Panchayat Godar and Loorkote, ensuring strict adherence to quality standards. Similarly, he paid visits to Lamberi and Siot Panchayats, engaging in discussions with PRIs and the general public. His inspection encompassed completed assets such as segregation sheds, Pink Toilets, and Compost Pits, all integral components of the second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Earlier, the other day the Director undertook a comprehensive two-day visit to Poonch, where he assessed the progress of various sanitation initiatives and emphasized the importance of solid and liquid waste management.
He held a meeting with the Rural Development Department (RDD) staff and Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) of Block Bufliaz, discussing important aspects of the ongoing projects.
Later, the Director visited the Nangali Sahib, Sain Baba Panchayat, where he inspected the assets completed under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Later, a review meeting was conducted at the Dak Banglow Poonch, wherein Director Singh interacted with all the staff members of the Rural Development Department, assessing their progress and addressing any challenges.
