Director RDD Kashmir visits Kupwara; reviews SPMRM project, inspects RDD works

KUPWARA: The Director, Rural Development Department (RDD), Kashmir, Imam Din today visited Kupwara district, inspected RDD works and convened a meeting of concerned officers here, to review the progress of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission (SPMRM) in Khumriyal cluster of Kupwara district.

The Director took a detailed review of progress of the project, being executed by various line departments and received present status and feedback from concerned officers. 

The meeting was informed that as many as 272 works costing Rs. 6067 lakh have been approved under Rurban Mission which includes infrastructure building by the Rural Development department and employment generation programme by other departments.

It was given out in the meeting that out of these 272 works, 195 have been taken up; of which 148 have been completed physically so far with a cumulative expenditure of Rs. 1021.42 lakh. It was also informed that 115 works have been geo-tagged so far. 

Giving department wise details, the Director RDD was informed that the Rural Development department has taken up 143 works which include 35 under sanitation, 85 under access to village streets, 9 under Citizen Service centre and recreational activities. Out of these 143 works, 122 have been physically completed. 

          Likewise, under the Employment generation programme, 26 works have been completed by Handloom, Handicraft, ITI, Animal/Sheep husbandry, Education, Agriculture/Horticulture, PHE, PWD, PDD, Health, I&FC, Consumer Affairs and LBDDA.

          Addressing the meeting, Imam Din stressed upon the officers to take concerted efforts and work with added dedication for completion of all on-going works of the project as the Rurban Mission is one of the flagship programmes of the Prime Minister.

The Director stressed the need for maintaining record and data meticulously so that the higher ups could access the details of the financial and physical progress easily.

Referring to the Handicraft especially Kani Shawl craft, he asked the concerned officer to register all pass out trainees with the department and facilitate them with proper financing and marketing.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat; JD Planning, ACD, ACP, ADP, Ex. Engineer REW and other concerned officers were present at the occasion.

Later, the Director along with concerned officers visited various areas including Drugmulla and took stock of on-going Rural Development works. He also visited the site at Dragmulla for the establishment of the BDC building for the Block.
