Says efforts are on to retrieve the barren land for converting it into vegetable fields

SRINAGAR: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today visited the land retrieved from the brick Kiln and talked to the concerned farmer regarding various interventions by the department.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture said that with the vigorous efforts by the department seven kanals of brick Kiln land was retrieved and its owner was motivated to start an agriculture activity on it. Director said the department introduced high yielding varieties of vegetables on this piece of land which earned a satisfactory income to the land owner.

He said that efforts are on to retrieve as much land used for unauthorized brick Kilns as possible and to convert it for the agriculture purposes. He said the department will continue its endeavor to retrieve agricultural land so that the fertility of the land in the district does not go to waste.

Later, the Director Agriculture visited some other areas of B.K Pora Zone and took stock of the agriculture scenario in the area. He asked the officers to guide the farmers of the area in their different agriculture activities.

He directed them to increase the frequency of field visits in the area so that the proper information regarding various interventions by the department could be imparted to the farming community.
