Director Agriculture flags-off farmers on exposure visit to CITH

GANDERBAL: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today flagged-off a group of 100 tribal farmers and Agri- entrepreneurs from sub-division Kangan of district Ganderbal on exposure visit cum training programme to Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (CITH) Rangreth, Srinagar.

During interaction with the touring farmers and Agri-entrepreneurs, the Director said that these tours are aimed at showing farmers practical benefits of latest agriculture interventions on the field.

He said that when farmers visit such highly reputed institutions it motivates them to adopt the techniques and technologies. Technical knowledge plays an important role in the successful crop cultivation, he added.

 Meanwhile, today’s programme was organized by Farmers Training and Education Centre (FTEC) Ganderbal in collaboration with CITH Srinagar. A group of 100 tribal farmers from Babanagri and Hariganwan villages of subdivision Kangan are visiting CITH under TSP programme.

Iqbal said that such programmes will be organized by the department for the tribal farmers in all the districts of Kashmir division so that the benefits under different schemes and flagship programs especially for tribal communities reaches the farmers of these communities in a more effective manner.
