JAMMU: Director Rural Sanitation, S. Charandeep Singh, paid a visit to Panchayat Pallanwalaon to check the progress of the Open Defecation Free Plus (ODF+) activities in the Panchayat. During the visit, the Director conducted a mahilasabha and appreciated the efforts of the SAFAI SATHIS, who were engaged in door-to-door waste collection.
The Director also presented certificates to the Safai Sathies in recognition of their contribution towards the cleanliness and hygiene of the Panchayat.
The programme was attended by DDC Vice Chairperson Jammu, Suraj Singh, Sarpanch Pallanwala, Geeta Devi, ACD Jammu, BDO Rural Sanitation, DPO Jammu, BDO Khour and other officials of the department.
The Mahila Sabha was attended by a large number of local women. The Director appreciated the active participation of women in the sanitation activities in the Panchayat and encouraged them to continue their efforts towards maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the area.
After the Mahila Sabha, the Director visited the Panchayat Ghar to inspect the model compost pits, soak pits, and magic pits constructed in the area. The Director was pleased to see the effective use of these pits for the proper disposal and treatment of waste.
The Director praised the efforts of the local administration in promoting the use of these pits, which not only helped in waste management but also promoted the use of organic manure for agriculture.
The Director also interacted with the residents of the Panchayat and shared some tips on maintaining hygiene and the proper use of sanitation facilities.
The visit by the Director Rural Sanitation motivated the residents of Panchayat Pallanwala to continue their efforts towards maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the area. The appreciation of the Safai Sathies encouraged them to work harder in their door-to-door waste collection activities.
The model compost pits, soak pits, and magic pits have not only helped in the effective management of waste but have also helped in promoting organic farming in the area. The visit by the Director has not only recognized the efforts of the local administration but has also encouraged them to continue their efforts towards promoting a culture of cleanliness and hygiene in the area.
