Reviews implementation of voter awareness initiatives
PULWAMA: The District Election Officer (DEO) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom today chaired an extensive meeting with the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) nodal officers of the district to review and enhance the implementation of voter awareness initiatives across all Assembly Constituencies (ACs) in Pulwama.
The DEO emphasized the importance of conducting awareness programs daily in the district, ensuring maximum participation of the electorate. It was highlighted that Halqa-wise SVEEP programs are scheduled, aiming to engage every Self Help Group (SHG), local body and electoral community within the district. Additionally, each Assembly Constituency has been directed to hold programs daily.
A variety of cultural and awareness activities, including Nukad Nataks, singing parties, boat rallies and bike rallies will be utilized over the next 4-5 days to mobilize locals and ensure widespread participation, urban local bodies, youth clubs, traders’ bodies and Aquaf committees to maintain momentum and visibility.
In a significant initiative, the DEO directed that a plantation drive be undertaken in all polling stations under the supervision of AC-level nodal officers. This drive will culminate in a mega event where around 300 plants will be planted, promoting the concept of green polling stations.
The DEO emphasized the importance of making these polling stations environmentally friendly and accessible, with provisions for ramps, drinking water and proper toilets, ensuring any gaps are addressed immediately.
The meeting concluded with a call for coordinated efforts from all stakeholders to ensure the success of the SVEEP program across Pulwama, aiming to achieve maximum voter awareness and participation in the upcoming elections.
