Will address security conclave, review J&K’s political scenario

JAMMU: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh would visit Jammu on 26 to address a ‘security conclave’ besides reviewing Jammu and Kashmir’s political scenario.

Sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) , the Union Defence Minister will arrive in the winter capital in morning and address a ‘Security Conclave’ organized by the J&K unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party at Zorawar Singh Auditorium.

He will also visit the BJP office at Trikuta Nagar and interact with senior party leaders to discuss prevailing political security in Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources confirmed that a visit to the BJP office to assess political situation in Jammu and Kashmir and party’s preparedness for the future elections has been added to Rajnath Singh’s one-day visit to Jammu on June 26.

Rajnath will interact with UT unit office bearers and senior leaders at Trikuta Nagar headquarters of the BJP after addressing Security Conclave and discuss with them prevailing security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.

Though no elections are scheduled to be held immediately yet the Defence Minister will assess party’s preparedness if the Assembly elections, which are due and for which the BJP UT unit has made a demand, are held.

Prior to the BJP meeting, Rajnath Singh will address decorated ex-servicemen, writers, journalists and other senior security experts at the first-ever Security Conclave Later, he will inter-act with them and is also likely to take some questions.

Earlier, J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina stated that ‘security conclave’, would be “totally a non-political event” was taken by the party.

He also affirmed that the party was finalising a list of dignitaries to be invited and they would include “defence experts, retired senior army officers, intellectuals, writers, media persons and think tanks from different parts of the Union Territory.”

Notably, the BJP is organising many programmes as a part of its month-long “Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan” to mark completion of nine years of Modi-government at the Centre.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address the booth-level workers of the BJP across the country including Jammu and Kashmir on June 27.
