DE&CC Samba organises career counselling program

SAMBA: District Employment & Counselling Centre Samba (Model Career Centre Samba) organised a career counselling program here today.

The event, inaugurated by Director Employment J&K, Nisar Ahmed Wani, aimed to aware the youth about career opportunities other than government jobs like jobs in the private sector, government sponsored self employment schemes and various skilling/ up-skilling programs being conducted by the government to enhance the employability of the youth.

Assistant Director Employment Samba, Sulakshna Thakur presented a brief overview of the activities and schemes being implemented by DECC Samba for welfare of unemployed youth. She informed that as on date 51 youth have been provided self employment loans under Mission Youth schemes, while 65 others have been provided skill training for the trade of Accounts Executive and Mutual Funds and 73 candidates have been placed in private companies/ industries through job fairs.

The Director Employment handed over keys of vehicles to 6 beneficiaries under MUMKIN scheme and also distributed the certificates to 35 trainees who have successfully completed a 50 hour skill based training program on Mutual Funds at DECC Samba held in collaboration with Bombay stock Exchange and Mission Youth.

Through this certification, the trainees have been registered under National Institute of Security Markets (NISM) which is beneficial for any bank related job.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director Employment motivated the youth to not only prepare for government jobs but also go for jobs in private sector and self employment for which the Employment Department is providing all the hand holding and support to the interested youth. He directed the staff to ensure maximum publicity and saturation of the schemes of government for welfare of unemployed youth.
