DE&CC Kulgam organises Job Fair to facilitate unemployed youth

Director Employment says Deptt will start Free short term employment oriented courses

KULGAM: In an endeavour to provide a suitable & convenient platform to the educated unemployed youth/Job seekers and facilitate their interaction with the Private Companies and Employers for Training, Skilling and placement, District Employment & Counselling Centre (DE&CC) Kulgam today organised  one day Job Fair in the office premises here at Kulgam.

The Job fair was inaugurated by Director Employment J&K, Nisar Ahmad Wani.

Joint Director Employment Kashmir, Hakeem Tanveer Ahmad,  Assistant Director Employment, DE&CC Kulgam Nowshad Anjum Mir and other officers were also present on the occasion.

12 Private Companies and Skill Development Organisations operating in Education, Finance, Skill Development, Agriculture, Automobile and Insurance sectors including Team Brain Development Institute Pvt. Ltd, M/s Ilena Technologies, M/s Green Planet Bio-products, WizKids Edu-corp, M/s Think & Win Technologies, M/s Future Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Imperial Institute Kulgam, Nivia Bupa Health Insurance Company, Bajaj Allianz, Tata AIA Life, SBI Life and Ashoka Leyland participated in the event with around 600 vacancies.

Resource Persons from  line departments including Sheep Husbandry Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Women Development Corporation, Handloom and Handicrafts department, KVIB  also disseminated the information about their respective schemes and programmes.

The event saw an overwhelming response from the Job seekers and companies.

Dir visited the stalls and interacted with the participating youth and representatives of private companies.

While addressing the audience, Director Employment emphasized upon the youth to come out of the traditional mind set up and participate in such kinds of events to extend their horizons of vision and wisdom. 

He advised the participants to upgrade their skills as per the Job market demand/trends and enhance their chances of employment. 

 Director informed the participants that unemployed youth (25-30 per batch) from each district will be imparted short term employment/ entrepreneurship oriented training as per the market/ industry demand and for this purpose applications from eligible and desirous youth shall be invited from 20th June 2023 by the respective District Employment & Counselling Centres.

These training/skill development courses will be conducted in collaboration with NIELIT, IHM, IMPA&RD, Universities, Polytechnics, ITI and other Government recognized skill development institutions depending upon the availability of such institutions and relevance of the courses, he added.

The training shall be provided free of cost and the trainees will also get a monthly stipend of Rs. 1000 each. 

Joint Director Employment also addressed the job-seekers and urged them to get themselves registered on J&K Employment Portal (www.jakemp.nic.in) which has been integrated with NCS portal so as to have an access to multiple cost free services offered by these portals like online counseling, Video Resume making, Skill training, Job matching and job notifications related to vacancies put up by private and public sector employers pan India.

 During the job fair 12 Unemployed youth were provided on spot offer letter, 350 fresh registrations were made and 257 candidates were shortlisted for the next rounds. 

The Job seekers expressed their deep gratitude to the organizers of the event for providing them a suitable platform to interact with the Job providers.
