Suspends salary of entire staff till furnishing of progress report

REASI: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Vishesh Mahajan on Saturday reviewed the performance of the Rural Development Department (RDD) here at a meeting attended by the ACD, BDOs, Panchayat Inspectors, and Panchayat Accounts Assistants.

Emphasising accountability and commitment in working, DDC Mahajan ordered immediate suspension of salary of entire RDD staff till they furnish comprehensive progress reports for each developmental scheme.

The DDC reviewed the district’s performance in implementing key government schemes such as MGNREGA, PMAY (G), and Capex-funded projects like ABDP and APDP. He emphasized the importance of close on-ground monitoring, directing the BDOs to dedicate at least 15 days per month to field visits. He closely examined recent audit reports and instructed BDOs to recommend the termination of any staff found responsible for discrepancies, alongside ensuring timely recovery from defaulters to maintain fiscal discipline.

DDC Mahajan also verified geotagged photos of projects and assets created under these schemes to assess their quality and progress. He tasked the ACD with submitting a detailed report on the quality, timeliness, and any delays in project execution. He further directed low-performing blocks to improve their output, fast-track ongoing works, and achieve tangible results in a timely manner.
