DDC Kupwara inspects ongoing developmental works in Nutnussa, Tirich, Kandi Khass, Athrotu

KUPWARA: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today visited Nutnussa, Tirich, Kandi Khass and Athrotu in Handwara sub division of Kupwara district and inspected various ongoing developmental works including Transit Accommodation at Nutnussa and construction of borewells at Tirich, Kandi Khass.

While inspecting construction of borewells at Tirich, the DDC was informed that 400 feet deep borewell has been constructed under Jal Jeevan Mission. The scheme costing Rs.366.33 lakh will provide potable drinking water to the target population of 3098.

Likewise, while inspecting borewell also known as production well at Kandi Khass, the DDC was informed that 500 feet depth has been constructed and 90% work has been completed so far.  The scheme costs Rs.531.26 lakh with target population of 10238 souls will get drinking water facilities.

The DDC also inspected borewell at Athrotoo which has so far got 167 feet depth. He was informed that 40% of work has been completed so far. The scheme costs Rs.153.43 lakh with target population of 4964.

The DDC also took stock of construction of Transit Accommodation at Nutnussa. He was informed that the accommodation is projected for 12 blocks at an allotted cost of Rs.1713.44 lakh. He was informed that 4 blocks are under progress out of which 3 are at concreting level while as, one is at Trench level. He was further informed that 6 blocks are targeted to be constructed by the current financial year. He was also informed that over Rs.60 lakh have been expended so far on the project.

The DDC directed the concerned engineers to use additional manpower and machinery so that the project is completed within the target period.

Regarding borewells, he directed concerned engineers to ensure completion of work and requisite yield tests done by this week on Tirich and Kandi Khass. While as, at Athrotu, the DDC directed the concerned engineers to speed up the execution and ensure completion of the projects within the given time frame.

He was accompanied by Executive Engineer PHE Division Handwara and other concerned officers.
