DDC Kulgam reviews implementation status of JJM in district

KULGAM: In order to give impetus to work projects of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and ensure timely completion of schemes, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today chaired a meeting of officers and contractors and reviewed progress made in the implementation of the JJM in the district.

JJM is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections.

During the meeting, S.E Hydraulics briefed the chair that there are 140 schemes comprising 218 works under JJM in the district. Out of   these 218 works, 194 stands tendered and administrative approval was accorded to 105 works while 75 have been allotted and a total of 04 works have been completed under JJM so-far.

The DDC urged officers to monitor all works regularly to ensure timely completion of all works taken up under Jal Jeevan Mission. He also instructed SE and Executive Engineers to expedite tendering, evaluation and allotment process of all rest of work projects.

He stressed upon 3rd party inspection agency WAPCOS to ensure timely inspection of works.

During the meeting, a threadbare discussion was held with the contractors to remove bottlenecks for early completion of all works allotted to them.

The DDC also listened to issues of contractors and stressed upon them to mobilize their men and machinery and ensure time bound completion of these works.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, SE Hydraulics, JD-Planning, Executive Engineers, CMO, AEEs; besides contractors also attended the meeting.
