Seeks cooperation for waste management

BANDIPORA: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Dr Owais today presided over the Block Divas event at Darmhama Village of the district to take the first hand appraisal of the grievances and issues faced by the people.

The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of people from various spheres of life. They raised issues related to healthcare, water supply, road connectivity, power supply, PMAY, PMGSY besides they also demanded installation of solar street lights in the leftover areas across the block.

While giving patient hearing to the issues raised by the people, the DDC assured for the speedy redressal of their genuine demands.

Dr Owais on spot directed the officials of the revenue department to remove encroachments in and around the water bodies.

He asked people to cooperate with the administration for proper management and collection of waste produced from households. He stressed proper hygiene and cleanliness in and around the villages, especially water resources.

During the interaction program, Dr Owais sought cooperation from the people to curb the menace of drug abuse in the society. He said parents have a great and vital role to play in curbing substance abuse in the society. He urged them to keep eagle’s eye on their wards so that it is ensured that they do not indulge in bad activities like drug abuse.

On the occasion, the DDC was accompanied by Additional District Development Commissioner Ali Afsar Khan, Assistant Commissioner Development Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, PRIs, BDC Chairperson, JD Planning, DFO, ACR, ACP, BDO concerned besides the officers from Jal Shakti Department, R&B and RDD.
