DC Udhampur inaugurates skill training programme under PM VishwaKarma Scheme

UDHAMPUR: In a significant step towards empowering the local workforce, Deputy Commissioner  Udhampur, Saloni Rai today inaugurated skill training program in carpentry and Blacksmith trade under the prestigious PM Vishwakarma scheme at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Udhampur.

The program is set to provide 5 days of Basic Skill Training, marking the commencement of a valuable initiative aimed at enhancing vocational skills and empowering individuals in the carpentry and blacksmith trades.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of General Manager DIC Udhampur, Kishore Singh, Superintendent ITI Udhampur, Ravinder Singh Bhatti; master trainers and all trainees.

Addressing the gathering, DC highlighted the collaborative efforts of different line departments in implementing the PM Vishwakarma scheme in the district. She underscored the scheme’s potential to benefit artisans by empowering them with innovative skills to earn a livelihood, ultimately contributing to the economic growth of the district.

The DC urged the trainees to utilize the most of the facilities available at ITI during their skill training to the maximum, emphasizing the importance of acquiring practical expertise in the courses. She also elaborated on the various benefits of the scheme, emphasizing its positive impact on society, particularly on the Traditional Craftsman community. Certificates were also distributed to trainees of earlier two batches of Tailor (Darzi) Course.

Expressing gratitude, the beneficiaries of the first two batches acknowledged the opportunity provided through the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. They pledged to dedicate themselves to acquiring skills that would not only benefit their personal careers but also contribute to the overall development of the district.
