UDHAMPUR: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, in a significant moment, inaugurated newly established Dogra Haat-Rural Market Hub at Kaghote Ramnagar, an initiative by women Self Help Groups (SHGs) under JKRLM (UMEED).
The ceremony witnessed the presence of Block Development Council Chairman, Des Raj, BDO Ramnagar, Sarpanch Sunil Singh, and various officials from different departments.
Dogra Haat is a commendable endeavor by JKRLM to provide a platform to rural women to showcase and sell their products, fostering entrepreneurship among women and bolstering their economic empowerment. Approximately 25 Self Help Group members from JKRLM will operate and manage this hub. Visitors can relish authentic Dogra cuisine, including Makki ki Roti, Udhampur’s renowned Kalari, Sarson da Saag, and other delectable dishes.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed her admiration for the dedication and hard work of the women involved in Dogra Haat. She emphasized the vital role of such initiatives in promoting women’s empowerment and strengthening the rural economy. Deputy Commissioner Rai stressed the significance of promoting local cuisine and supporting women entrepreneurs for the holistic development of the region.
This initiative aims to stimulate economic growth, empower local Self Help Groups through entrepreneurial opportunities and contribute to community development.
