UDHAMPUR: In a significant step towards enhancing waste management in Udhampur town, Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai today flagged off five newly procured waste segregation vehicles.
These vehicles, procured by the Municipal Council Udhampur, have been sponsored under a CSR initiative by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
Briefing the media, the DC highlighted the growing challenge of waste management in urban areas. She emphasized that with the rapid pace of urbanization, the quantum of waste generation in the town is increasing. To address this issue effectively and promote sustainable waste segregation practices, the Municipal Council has augmented its fleet with these state-of-the-art vehicles, made possible through the support of Power Grid under its CSR initiative.
DC urged citizens to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness and ensuring proper segregation of waste at the source.
The event was attended by CEO Municipal Council Rajinder Kumar Digra, representatives of Power Grid and other officers.
Additionally One Truenat Machine for TB testing was also provided by Power Grid of India under CSR initiative at District Tuberculosis Centre Udhampur.
