Asks media to give wide publicity for maximum scheme registration and entitlements

SHOPIAN: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar today briefed the media on re- modelled or re-christened schemes for tribal welfare, urban housing, solar energy and healthcare insurance coverage of elderly citizens.

The press briefing was coordinated by the Department of Information and Public Relations, Shopian and was attended by numerous media persons belonging to national and local media organisations. DIO Shopian, Showkat Hussain Ganie was also present on the occasion.

The DC at the outset briefed about the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyaan (DAJGUA) aimed to target saturation of schemes and development outcomes across 25 Interventions for tribal development and welfare of about 14 villages of the district.

The DC talked about initiatives being taken for hostel upgradation, tribal entrepreneurship, establishment of Eklavya Model Residential School and other tribal welfare issues.

On PMAY- U (2), the DC  detailed its eligibility criteria and provision to target the urban homeless and low income population by providing financial assistance for constructing houses.

MC Shopian is the nodal department for the implementation and applicants have to register online for availing the benefits, he further added. The notice for registration has already been issued by MC Shopian.

For PM -Surya Ghar or Muft Bijli Ghar scheme, aimed for renewable energy production and consumption for economic efficiency and environment conservation by reducing carbon footprint, the DC appealed the public to avail the benefits of the scheme. Lucrative Subsidy is provided both by the central and UT Government, said DC on the occasion.

He also briefed media on AB-PMJAY (2) which gives scheme benefits of healthcare insurance coverage to senior citizens aged 70 and above, regardless of their income, which was otherwise not covered in earlier scheme.

He also asked the media to lend  support for generating extensive IEC Campaigns in the district so that more and more people are able to register for these newly remodeled or re-christened schemes for public benefits.

He vociferously applied people to come forward and register for these schemes.

Various issues of public welfare were also highlighted by the media persons which were replied by DC and said administration is committed to providing support to the public of the district for mitigation of grievances and uptake of developmental demands.
