During the meeting, the DC Kishtwar was informed that 129 Water Supply Scheme (WSS) projects are underway in the district, with an estimated cost of Rs 448 crore rupees.

The meeting focused on assessing the status of ongoing water supply schemes, with a detailed analysis of each subdivision and scheme.

Evaluating the progress of different JJM schemes, DC Kishtwar emphasized the importance of interdepartmental cooperation and addressing any bottlenecks hindering the pace of work.

He urged executing agencies and contractors to mobilize resources to complete the ongoing water supply schemes within the stipulated time frame.

Challenges impeding progress were discussed, with particular attention to water supply schemes in hard-to-reach areas.

The Deputy Commissioner directed that schemes with 90% completion should reach 100%, while those with less than 50% completion should aim for at least 75% by the deadline of December 2.

R K Shavan reiterated that delays in completing WSS projects would not be tolerated. He instructed executing agencies to expedite work and ensure contractors meet deadlines without fail. Strict actions, including penalties, would be imposed on contractors causing unnecessary delays, he added.

Additionally, a financial penalty of 15% of the total tendered amount will be imposed on any defaulting contractor.
