PULWAMA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr Basharat Qayoom today convened a meeting of concerned officers to discuss and review the issues related to verification and NOC of Limestone (Major) Mining Blocks at Khrew Pampore.
During the meeting threadbare discussion was held with regard to identification criteria of the blocks, title verification, NOC status, employment generation, site plan besides other important aspects.
District Mineral Officer (DMO) informed the chair that two major mining blocks at Saffanool-Waganool and Dembkhor in Khrew tehsil of Pampore have been identified by Geology and Mining Department for leasing out and few departments have submitted NOCs in this regard. In addition to that it was also informed that the work on identification of three Mining blocks Rajpora is under process.
The DC, who is also the Chairman of District Level Single Window Committee (DLSWC) asked the members of the District Task Force Committee to work in close coordination and liaison in checking the illegal mining in the district and asked law enforcement agencies to extend all possible support to stop illegal mining in the district.
He also directed the DMO to establish Naka’s/check points at the sensitive points to keep a strict and close vigil on illegal transportation and storage of minor minerals.
The DC further directed the officers to visit these sites and ensure that any detrimental effects or environmental hazard for locality are not created by leasing out these mineral blocks and submit NOCs or otherwise accordingly as per the standing rules issued by Geology and Mining Department
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, ACR, DFO, DMO, Executive Engineers of KPDCL, Jal Shakti and I&FC, CAO, AD Fisheries among others.
