DC Poonch reviews arrangements for Eid ul Azha

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner, Yasin M Choudhary chaired a meeting today to review the arrangements for the upcoming festival of Eid ul Azha.

Religious heads and prominent citizens raised various concerns regarding the smooth conduct of the festival, including notification of rates for sheep, goat and chicken, quality of sweets, cleanliness during Eid, supply of ration and LPG, uninterrupted supply of water and electricity, medical facilities and traffic management plans.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned officers to ensure necessary arrangements are put in place in advance so that people do not face any difficulties during the celebration of Eid ul Azha.

President of DGPC Poonch, Narinder Singh, assured that DGPC will provide full support if any kind of need arises during Eid.

The Deputy Commissioner directed various departments, including AD Food, Legal Metrology, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and Municipality to start market checking and ensure strict implementation of approved market rates of chicken, mutton, bakery, quality of sweets and other items during Eid. He also instructed them to take strict action against black marketers, hoarders and erring shopkeepers as per the law.

The Deputy Commissioner directed ARTO Poonch, Basharat Mehmood to take strict action against overloader as per law and prepare route management plan to avoid traffic Jam plan or any incidents during the Eid festival

During the meeting, the DC directed the Engineers of PDD and PHE to ensure adequate supply of electricity and water to the citizens of the district during the Eid celebrations.

The Municipal authorities were directed to launch a cleanliness drive at Eidgah and other congregation places before Eid.

AD Food was directed to provide ration in every place, including far-flung areas, before Eid, so that people do not face any difficulties.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of ensuring that the roads are safe and free from any obstructions or hazards, especially during the festival when people are expected to travel and commute more frequently.

In addition to this, he also directed the Chief Medical Officer to ensure that medical facilities are available.

Prominent citizens and dignitaries from various sectors were present at the meeting, including President DGPC Poonch, Narinder Singh; Imam Jama Masjid Poonch, Mufti Farooq Ahmed Misbhai; President Dashnami Akhara Poonch, Harbans Lal; Chairman Pir Panchal and Human Rights Organisation Poonch, Adv. Mohammad Zaman; and Taj Mir, among others.
