KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray today flagged-off a Nasha Mukt awareness rally, here in which a large number of school children participated.
The rally organized by Kafila Foundation, an NGO in collaboration with District Administration Kupwara went through various markets of Kupwara town, providing awareness to the people about ill effects of the drugs and emphasizing the need to live a drug free life.
Speaking at the occasion, the DC said that the ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abiyan’ is a special initiative by the LG Administration to make Jammu & Kashmir a drug free Union Territory.
He said that the sustained efforts are made by the administration to help the persons affected by drugs to come out from the menace so that they can live a dignified life in the society. He further said that the District Rehabilitation Centre is coming up in the district for counseling and rehabilitation of the affected youth.
The DC appealed to the people, especially parents, to extend their sincere cooperation to the administration in tracing out the affected youth so that they can be counseled and rehabilitated.
It is pertinent to mention that a month long Nasha Mukt J&K Abiyan was observed across the Kupwara district during the last month which saw conduct of mass awareness rallies, debates, Nash Mukt Pledges, Painting Competitions and Seminars in all educational institutions and Anganwadi Centres.
