KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan on Wednesday chaired the District Level Single Window Committee meeting regarding the issuance of NOCs for Mineral Blocks 4 and 17 at the Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex.
On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on the reservations and apprehensions for issuance of Non Objection Certificates (NOCs) for block 4 (Warnow Lolab-Kanthpora bridge to Khumryal Nallah Downstream) and Block 17 (Hanjipora Middle School to Hayan upstream) was held during which the Single Window Committee recommended to deny NOC to both the blocks citing reservations regarding safety of bridges, other infrastructure and feasibility of mineral blocks.
The DC directed the concerned Officers of line departments to work in coordination and said that strict monitoring is required to ensure that nobody indulges in illegal mineral extraction.
She further issued directions to Irrigation & Flood Control, R&B, Jal Shakti, and Fisheries departments to cooperate with the Geology and Mining department in putting a check on illegal mining. “You all have a responsibility to preserve and protect your assets, in this regard a strict vigil needs to be kept by all of you” DC said.
The DC directed the District Mineral Officer to undertake the frequent raids on hot-spots like Khumryal, Jagadpora, Bohipora adjacent to DIET Office, Mougalpora, Mawar and Tangdhar.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Irfan Bahadur; Ex. Engineers of PDD, PHE, R&B Handwara, R&B Kupwara and I&FC, WildLife Warden North, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, District Mineral Officer, Technical officer PHE, AD Fisheries, District Officer, Pollution Control Board, besides other concerned were present in the meeting.
