DC Kupwara chairs DLC meet on agriculture, approves 190 cases under HADP

KUPWARA: In a significant move towards the development of agriculture in the frontier Kupwara district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan on Friday chaired the District Level Committee (DLC) meeting on Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP).

At the outset, the DC took brief on the headway achieved in projects being covered across the district by Agriculture and allied departments, under HADP.

The meeting also conducted a draw-of-lots for selection of applications received under different components including establishment of Nursery for Kashmiri Lal Mirchi, Diversification of Niche Crops (Kashmiri Lal Mirchi), Hi-tech Polygreen Houses, Low cost Polygreen Houses, Bee Colonies, strengthening of existing Bee Keeping units, Beekeeping equipment manufacturing, establishment of facilitation centres for migratory beekeepers, Millet Restaurant, Brush cutter, Battery operated Sprayer, Power Tiller, Maize Sheller, Tractor Mounted sprayer, mushroom sheds, improved crop sheds, vegetable seeds, vermicompost units,  Spawn of Mushroom, Beehive with colonies, roof top rain water harvesting structures, Deep Borewell, Low cost vermicompost units and other components.

In this connection applications were invited through online mode from the interested persons and after completion of all the formalities as per guidelines of the scheme, a total of 259 feasible candidates were shortlisted for an approved target of 190.

Finally, the DLC selected 190 candidates through a draw of lots under different projects/ components of HADP.

The DC, on the occasion stressed upon all sectoral officers of Agriculture and allied departments to speed up the completion of targets assigned under the HADP to the district.

She also stressed the stakeholder departments to work in close coordination for implementation of different initiatives at district level.

The DC directed officers to reach out to the farmers of far-flung areas and make them aware about the latest farming technologies in the agriculture sector.
