DC Kupwara chairs DDMA meeting, approves 21 cases, funds for restoration of 3 bridges

KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara,  Ayushi Sudan who is also Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the cases pertaining to property damage in the district.  

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed tehsildars and concerned Executive Engineers to conduct visits for joint assessment of damaged infrastructure in their jurisdiction and submit detailed report to her office for immediate restoration under SDRF.

She directed the officers to prioritize the restoration works based on the public importance. 

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner took a case wise review of all the claims pertaining to property and livestock damages. 

During the meeting, a total of 33 cases relating to the damage of residential houses and loss of livestock were put forth for discussion, out of which 21 cases were approved for grant of relief under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms and 12 cases have been deferred for re-verification. 

The Deputy Commissioner also took review of damaged infrastructure in recent flash floods in the district.

On the occasion, Rs.10 lakh were approved for restoration of Khumriyal Bridge, Rs.9.55 lakh for Shoolura Bridge and Rs.9.34 lakh were approved for restoration work of Daand Kadal (Bridge) at Langate.

ADC Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat; CMO, CAO, CAHO, Executive Engineers, Tehsildars and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

The Deputy Commissioner also chaired a separate meeting of District Rent Assessment Committee to discuss the fixation of rent of various structures in which different government offices are functioning across the district. 

Addressing the meeting, the DC asked the officers to pay rent to the concerned owners of rented structures on time and ensure safety of the Government/ rented property.

 She further asked the intending authorities to pay the approved rent after the title verification certificate is issued from concerned Tehsildar.
