DC Kulgam reviews Winter preparedness

KULGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan today chaired a meeting of officers to review winter preparedness in the district.

During the meeting, the DC reviewed availability of snow clearance machines, stock position, action plans prepared by the concerned departments to prevent interruption to services during this winter season.

He impressed upon the officers to remain available at headquarters for prompt response to the public grievances and for better coordination in dealing with snow clearance operations and to ensure smooth power, water supply and other essential supplies to avoid any inconvenience to people.

Concerned officers from the Mechanical Engineering Department briefed the DC about the action plan and informed that there are 25 Machines available to them including 2 snow cutters for snow clearance.

The DC directed for ensuring that snow clearance machines are positioned at all critical spots and that these are pressed into service as soon as snow starts to accumulate, prioritizing roads leading to all important installations across the district including Hospitals and other essential institutions.

He also reviewed availability of buffer stock of transformers and availability of stock position of essentials.

The DC sought inter-departmental coordination for effective response for any eventuality in the winter season and exhorted that the reaction time should be prompt and the snow clearance plan should be effectively implemented.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, Showkat Ahmad Rather; ADC, Viqar Ahmad Giri; JDP, Zahid Sajjad; SDM-Noorabad, Bashir Ul Hassan; Executive Engineers from Jal Shati, MED and KPDCL, CMO  and other Officers.
