KATHUA: A meeting of District Advisory Committee on PC & PNDT Act was held today here in the conference hall of DC Office complex under the chairmanship of  Deputy Commissioner Dr Rakesh Minhas.

The meeting held threadbare discussions on various issues which included registration & renewal of ultrasound centres, implementation of preconception and prenatal diagnostic techniques Act, Regulation of GCCs, Labs and Clinics, Offences and penalties, Provision of registration, Inspection, mechanism for monitoring and implementation of PC & PNDT Act etc.

Chief Medical Officer  Dr Vijay Raina informed the meeting that there are 11 ultrasound clinics in the district including 5 private and 6 Government.

Discussing the importance of one of the most important legislation dealing with healthy Girl Sex Ratio, the DC stressed upon effective implementation of the  PC&PNDT Act  and asked for conducting random inspections of ultrasound clinics to enforce its compliance.
