JAMMU: District Development Commissioner, Avny Lavasa today released four number of district level vital publications viz. District Statistical Handbook, District at a Glance, Economic Review and the Village Amenity Directory compiled by the District Statistics and Evaluation Office Jammu, focussing on the socio-economic and demographic profile of the district.
District Statistics and Evaluation Officer Rupinder Kaur, Chief Planning Officer Yoginder Katoch, Assistant Director (E&S) O/O DSEO and other staff members of District Statistics and Evaluation Office were present at the release ceremony.
The District Statistical Handbook is the 39th in the series and provides statistical information on the socio-economic aspects of the district based on the data provided by the various district offices.
The Village Amenity Directory, is yet another publication which gives an insight into the facilities/ amenities made available in the preceding year in each village of the district. The present issue released is the 16th in the series.
Economic Review, 29th in the series, is yet another vital and important economic literature giving details about the area, demography and economy of the district and the data is presented both in tabular and graphic form by way of bar graphs, pie charts etc.
Last but not the least, District at a Glance is a pocket size book that presents a summarized, abridged form of developmental activities of the district and the present issue being released is for the year 2021-22 and 23rd in the series.
All these publications present data on various parameters for effective planning and management in various developmental activities at the district level and shall be useful for not only the research scholars but also for various government departments associated with developmental activities and policy making and implementation of flagship programmes for the holistic development of the district.
While releasing the books, the District Development Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the District Statistics and Evaluation Officer and the staff who were involved in collection, compilation and finalization of all the vital publications. She also acknowledged the co-operation extended by various Government departments in providing the requisite information to enable in bringing out the publications.
