RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma today inaugurated a collection-cum-segregation shed at Dhanore Dhindian constructed under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G).

The newly inaugurated facility is aimed at enhancing solid waste management in the area, especially with regard to plastic waste.  It will cater to the waste collection and segregation needs of several adjoining panchayats and the nearby Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), ensuring a cleaner and more sustainable environment, the officials said.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the establishment of the segregation shed is a significant step towards effective waste management and environmental conservation. “All plastic waste from the surrounding areas will now be scientifically collected and segregated here. This initiative will go a long way in supporting the vision of a clean and green Rajouri,” he added.

He also urged the local community members and educational institutions to actively participate in keeping their surroundings clean and cooperate with the administration in achieving the objectives of SBM-G.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Sheraz Chouhan; Technical Officer to Executive Engineer REW; concerned BDO and other officers during the visit.
