GANDERBAL: The inaugural ceremony of the Swachhta Pakhwada, titled “The Shuchita Sangram Campaign,” was successfully held today at the Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat Ganderbal.
The event was launched by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Shyambir and was attended by key district officials, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Gulzar Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Dr Bashir Ahmad, Chief Planning Officer (CPO), and representatives from various departments.
Students from local schools also participated enthusiastically in the event.
The ceremony commenced with a welcome address delivered by the ACD Ganderbal, who provided an overview of the campaign’s objectives and significance. He emphasized the various initiatives undertaken by the Rural Development Department (RDD) to promote environmental cleanliness, including the establishment of plastic waste management centers and segregation sheds, which play a crucial role in effective waste management.
During the event, the DDC engaged in a brief interaction with the students, encouraging their involvement in the campaign and fostering a sense of responsibility towards maintaining a clean environment.
In his concluding remarks, Shyambir commended the collaborative efforts of various departments in ensuring a green and clean environment. He particularly highlighted the vital role of Gram Panchayats in the success of the campaign, underlining the importance of grassroots involvement in achieving sustainable cleanliness.
The attendees collectively took the Swachhta pledge, committing to dedicate time towards keeping their surroundings clean and promoting a culture of cleanliness in their communities.
The formal vote of thanks was presented by the ADC Ganderbal, who reiterated the significance of taking small, actionable steps to minimize waste production and manage waste effectively.
The campaign will feature a series of activities designed to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness and inspire collective action towards a cleaner district.
Similarly, functions were also held at Panchayat, Block and Sub-Divisional levels where in gathering, emphasizing the importance of individual and collective efforts in achieving the vision of a cleaner India.
