Encourages participants to avail benefits of welfare schemes
GANDERBAL: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir, today presided over a Public Grievance Redressal Camp at the Block Conference Hall, Kangan, as part of the weekly Block Diwas initiative.
The camp witnessed active participation from locals of Block Kangan, who raised various issues and demands regarding their respective areas.
During the camp, residents flagged-off concerns including upgradation of water and power infrastructure, revision of mineral rates, timely release of funds under the 14th FC, regular market inspections, upgradation of Pathribal road, macadamization of the Thune-Branwar road, maintenance of the Baba Baderdin Canal, strict measures against drug peddling, potable water issues at Chattergul and other developmental issues.
The DC gave a patient hearing to the grievances and assured the public that their genuine issues would be addressed in a time-bound manner. He emphasized the district administration’s commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and timely resolution of public concerns.
In response to the issue of unscheduled power cuts, the DC directed the KPDCL to ensure adherence to the power supply schedule. He also instructed officials to conduct inspections in areas experiencing overloading and seize unauthorized crude heating and cooking appliances. Additionally, he urged locals to use electricity judiciously, especially during peak hours.
Highlighting the importance of welfare schemes, the DC encouraged participants to avail benefits of government initiatives designed for their benefit.
He also directed concerned officers to submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) on the grievances raised within a week.
Meanwhile, a representative from JK Bank briefed attendees about financial schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), urging eligible citizens to take advantage of these programs.
SSP Ganderbal, Ragav S, while addressing the gathering, informed that police will conduct drug de-addiction awareness programs to tackle the growing menace of drug abuse. He sought cooperation from the community in these initiatives.
