5000 unemployed youth identified to provide skill training: DTFC
DODA: To foster youth empowerment and economic development in the district, Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh convened a meeting of the stakeholder departments and discussed the rollout of the AVSAR programme in the district and achievements and future strategies in the field of Skill Development for generating gainful activities for unemployed youth in the district.
District Task Force Committee (DTFC) under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, decided to upgrade the libraries, conduct skill development courses and rozgar melas, impart coaching to the eligible desirous youth for professional exams, establish Archer/ Shooting and other sports centres across the district, and create an atmosphere conducive for the socio-economic progress of the unemployed youth.
It was informed that an amount of Rs 50 lakhs have been released in this regard by the Mission Youth department to the district. A team of five officers shall visit the IIT Jammu to deliberate on the market linked job opportunities and skills requirements along with designing course modules especially in the field of adventure, tourism/ religious tourism/ general tourism and other activities.
The AVSAR programme is Mission Youth’s initiative to develop an essential link, to connect the region’s talented youth with essential skills and employability, acting as a vital link between the local talent pool and corporate, national, and multinational enterprises. The overarching goal is to bridge the gap between industry requirements and the skilled youth in the area, thereby driving economic growth and socio-economic empowerment.
AVSAR is a comprehensive initiative that encompasses various crucial elements, including Skill Development, Soft Skills training, Career Guidance, Job Melas, Industry-Academia collaboration, and the establishment of a professional exam study center. By offering these services, the program seeks to equip young individuals with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in the job market.
The administration has identified 5000 unemployed youth across the district willing to take skill development courses as per their passion and market requirements. The administration shall impart them with the necessary skills to get their livelihood with dignity, boosting local economy, tourism, crafts, and popular agricultural and other products of the district. During the meeting, DC emphasized synchronised efforts by all the stakeholders in achieving tangible outcomes that are employment-oriented. He underscored the importance of continuous skill development and upgradation for both the existing workforce and prospective youth.
The meeting was attended by CPO Doda Suresh Kumar, Deputy Director Employment Idrees Lone, ACP Doda Ashfaq Khanji, CAO, CAHO, DSHO, CMO, LDM, DIO, Nodal Principal GDC Doda, District Coordinator JK Bank, Director R-SETI, BDOs and other concerned officials.
