DC Budgam reviews arrangements for ensuing festivals of Shab-e-Qadr, Jumat-ul-Vida, Eid-ul-Fitr & Navratri

BUDGAM: In order to review the arrangements for ensuing celebrations of Jumat-ul-Vida, Shab-e-Qadr, Eid-ul-Fitr and Navratri, a meeting of senior officers of District Administration was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC)  Budgam, Akshay Labroo at conference hall of the DC Office Complex here, today.

The DC directed the Officers of all line departments to ensure all necessary arrangements are put in place well in advance so that people do not face any difficulty during the observance/ celebrations.

In order to curb black marketing, profiteering and hoarding, the DC asked SDMs and Tehsildars to intensify the market checking in their jurisdictions and take strict legal action against the violations. He asked them to ensure all essential commodities are sold at Government approved rates with standard quality and sufficient availability.  

He directed for joint inspections by revenue, police, food safety and FCS&CA department to ensure that market rates remain stable and to enforce strict checks against food adulteration.

The DC directed the PDD authorities to ensure uninterrupted supply of power during  all the upcoming festivals of Shab-e-Qadr, Jumat-ul-Vida Eid-ul-Fitr and Navratri while the PHE department was asked to ensure adequate water supply to the people. They were also directed to deploy water tankers at prominent Shrines and to the places where adequate water supply is required to be augmented , so that people do not face any difficulty.

Executive officers of all MCs were directed to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness arrangements at all prominent places particularly at Charar -i-sharief, Peth Makhama, Pakherpora, Eid gah’s, main imambaraha’s & Sheikhpora pandit colony for  Eid, Jumat ul Vida, Shab e qadr and Navratri festivals respectively besides installation and repair of street lights at important religious places where big congregations are expected to be held, including installation of stalls of flowers and other commodities at pandit colony in Sheikhpora Budgam.

The DC also stressed for ensuring adequate transport and parking facilities at all prominent Shrines especially Chrar-i- sharief for the visiting devotees.

He asked the concerned authorities to prepare an adequate route plan with the Traffic Department, besides creating temporary additional parking slots so that better transport facilities will be provided to the people during these auspicious days.

The DC also directed for deployment of magistrates at the Shrines for smooth conduct of congregation prayers.

Health Department was directed to install medical camps with paramedical staff, critical care ambulance and medicines at main congregation places and major Shrines.

The Fire and Emergency Department was directed to provide 24×7 services across the valley in case of any eventuality.

The DC stressed all concerned officers to work in coordination for the successful and hassle-free culmination of big congregations of Shab-e-Qadr, Jamat-ul-Vida, Eid-ul-Fitr and Navratri across District Budgam.

Besides, ADC Budgam, meeting was attended by ACR, CPO, ACP, all SDMs, Senior officers of PDD, R&B, PHE, JKSRTC, FCS&CA, RTO, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Health Services and Fire & Emergency Services, all Tehsildars, Executive officers of all municipalities, Traffic Police and representatives from shrines of Charar-i-sharief, Pethmakhama  and Pakherpora.
