DC B’pora inspects GB Hostel; review its functioning, availability of requisite facilities

BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Thursday visited Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel at Watapora Bandipora to take stock of its functioning.

While interacting with the students, Dr. Owais enquired about the facilities available to the students in the hostel. He urged them to work harder to uplift the tribal community thereby becoming role models for their community.

He directed the concerned for maintaining proper cleanliness and sanitation in the hostel.

The DC said the hostel eases the problems of students of Gujjar and Bakerwal community and provides accommodation to such students and aspirants who have to travel long distances to reach district headquarters for education, coaching and other purposes.

Dr. Owais said the hostel will be equipped with all modern facilities including a reading room, round the clock internet facility, computer lab and library and will act as an education hub for the people.

On the occasion, the DC directed Executive Engineer R&B to macadamize the road leading to the hostel on priority.

Later, the DC also inspected ongoing work at adjacent Park being constructed by Tourism Department under the Languishing Scheme at a cost of Rs. 223 lacs and emphasized on quality ambience and early completion so that inmates of the hostel as well as students and inhabitants of the area can spend their leisure time in the park.

The DC was accompanied by Joint Director Planning, Ex. Engineer R&B, Tehsildar Bandipora and other senior officers of the district.
