DC Baramulla visits Sopore; meets delegations, listens to their issues

Conducts visit to local offices/ health institution, asses service efficiency

BARAMULLA: In an endeavour to take first hand appraisal of developmental concerns and administrative issues, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa today paid a visit to Sub-Division Sopore of Baramulla district. 

The DC was accompanied by ADC Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina.

During the visit, DC met various delegations including Traders Federation Sopore and Fruit Mandi Association who put forth the pressing issues the communities are facing which need immediate attention from District Administration.

The members of Fruit Mandi Association apprised the DC about the issues related to Water Supply Scheme at Mandi, Macadamization of truck yard and completion of Mazbug bridge leading to the Fruit Mandi. 

Representatives from the Traders Federation Sopore put forth demands for a Mini Secretariat, upgraded Bus Stand in town premises, Macadamization of roads in the town, and the establishment of a drainage system, among other vital issues.

The DC diligently listened to these issues and assured the delegations that their concerns would be promptly taken up with the relevant departments, emphasizing a commitment to swift delivery and redressal. Minga Sherpa, further reiterated the district administration’s dedication to the development of  sub-division Sopore where 2nd largest fruit mandi in Asia is located. 

During his visit, the DC conducted a thorough assessment of service efficiency at the Municipal Council Office Sopore which included the issuance of birth/death, domicile certificates, records related to housing for all, and other pertinent services.

The DC also visited the scenic Wular lake  where he was presented the Wular Magzine  by the Wular Conservation and Management Authority. Minga Sherpa issued impromptu directions to the concerned officers for immediate development of the ghat area to increase tourist footfall in the region. 

Later, the DC visited Sub District Hospital Sopore where he undertook thorough inspection of the healthcare facilities and interacted with the admitted patients and their attendants to take first hand appraisal  of the services being provided to them.
