Listens public issues; redresses several demands on-spot
BARAMULLA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa today presided over a Block Diwas programme organized by the District Administration Baramulla at Chijhama Rafiabad, to actively engage with the community, address their grievances, and listen to their demands firsthand.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina; officers from the concerned departments, public representatives and a large number of people from villages of Rohama and Dangiwacha blocks participated in the Block Diwas.
Throughout the programme, community members and their representatives voiced their grievances and demands concerning development and administrative matters, emphasizing the need for immediate attention from the DC and district administration to facilitate necessary resolutions.
The primary demands included, establishment of a Kisan Ghar at Dangiwacha, prompt filling of vacant positions for BDOs and Tehsildars, deployment of Hoppers for a comprehensive Swachhata Drive across villages within the blocks, and provision of science and other crucial streams at GDC Hadipora.
Additionally, the representatives called for the upgradation of the library facilities at Watergam, installation of solar street lights in the Hadipora market area, establishment of an indoor stadium within the block to foster youth sports, organization of snow festivals and provision of basic amenities like washrooms, shelter sites etc at designated tourist spots.
Speaking during the event, the DC highlighted the importance of conducting such outreach programmes that bring administration directly to the doorsteps of the community to listen to their pressing demands and grievances.
He promptly addressed numerous issues raised during the Block Diwas, offering immediate solutions on-site while instructing officers from concerned departments to prioritize the remaining issues and ensure swift resolution.
The DC further emphasized the untapped potential of the upper belt of Rafiabad for adventure tourism, particularly trekking and skiing. He assured that the district administration would incorporate this into the Capex budget for the coming Financial Year, prioritizing the establishment of essential facilities such as washrooms, canteens, shelter sheds, and benches to enhance the overall tourist experience.
Earlier, Minha Sherpa inspected multiple stalls set up by various departments, including Horticulture, Health, NRLM, Jal Shakti among others showcasing a range of government schemes, services, and facilities aimed at benefiting the public.
