Adopt proactive approach in addressing man animal conflict: Dr. Owais
BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed on Monday chaired a meeting of concerned stakeholders to review the functioning of Wildlife department and to discuss, deliberate and chalk out a strategy upon the emerging issue of crop raiding and damage by wild animals in the district.
The meeting discussed various measures to control the damage caused to crops by wild animals and man animal conflict.
The DC stressed upon the concerned to raise awareness among the general public regarding the mitigation efforts in order to minimize the man-animal conflict and asked the concerned department to keep close vigil in such cases.
He stressed on adopting proactive measures in addressing the man-animal conflict.
Dr. Owais asked the Wildlife department to identify the areas of concern and develop the strategies accordingly to mitigate the conflicts.
The meeting was attended by Nodal Officer-Coordination, M A Hakak; ADC, Umar Shafi Pandit; DFO Mudassir Mehmood; Wildlife Warden, North, Dr. Khursheed; Head Mountain Wildlife Division, SKUAST, Dr. Aliya Shabir; Head, Wildlife SOS Kashmir, Dr Mehreen; Subject Matter Specialist, CAO, CHO, Tehsildar, and other concerned officers.
