BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed on Thursday held a meeting with the officers of Tourism, Forest, Army and other concerned departments to review the preparations for the Wullar Festival.
The meeting was held to discuss various plans to be adopted for successful conduct of the Wullar Festival and other tourism promotion activities in Wullar.
The meeting also deliberated on various aspects of tourism activities in Wullar and livelihood activities, including Fishing and extraction of Chestnuts and a need was felt to regulate the said activities keeping in view the sensitivities involved in the preservation and conservation of the ecosystem of the Lake.
The DC directed the officers to take up additional measures to avoid inconvenience to people participating in the festival.
It was given out that Departmental stalls will be installed at festival locations, besides the involvement of Senior citizens, PRIs and students shall also be ensured.
The meeting discussed various modalities to conduct Shikara Rally, Boat Race, Painting Competition, Quiz Competition, bird watching and other activities.
It was informed that various adventure- related activities will be held during the Gurez Festival for tourism promotion in the area.
The meeting was attended by several officers including Nodal Officer Coordination, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak; ADC Bandipora, Umar Shafi Pandit; ACR, JD Planning, DySP Bandipora besides Officers from Indian Army, Police and MARCOS.
