BUDGAM: The Dry land Agriculture Research Station (DARS), SKUAST-K today organized a one day programme for progressive farmers nominated by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Budgam and field officers of Department of Agriculture, District Budgam on Sensitization on PPVFRA mandate and objectives at Rangreth Srinagar.
The programme was hosted by Dr. Latief Ahmed, Scientist, AICRP Pulses.
Dr. Munaza Bashir gave a brief insight about pulse scenario of the valley and importance of pulses in dietary and nutrition of humans. The farmers were given hands-on information about scientific cultivation of Kharif Pulses together with management of these crops against major insects and pests.
Earlier, Dr. Z. A. Dar (Head, DARS Rangreth) welcomed the participants and threw light on the event.
Dr. Ajaz Ahmad, organizer of the event educated the participants about the mandate and objectives of PPVFRA through an elaborate presentation.
An interactive session between scientists of the University and office of Agriculture Department was also held.
A field visit was also arranged to showcase the performance of new pulse cultivation technologies developed by the University.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ajaz Ahmad Lone.
