CUK’s DCJ holds lecture on ‘Creativity in Communication’

GANDERBAL: Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), School of Media Studies (SMS), Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized a special lecture on “Creativity in Communication” for the students and scholars by Dr. Arpan S. Yagnik, Associate Prof, Deptt of Communication, Penn State University, USA.

Dean Academic Affairs and Dean SMS, Prof. Shahid Rasool, conveyed his gratitude to the resource person and his best wishes for the smooth conduct of the lecture. In his message, he said the DCJ aims to focus on the holistic development of the students.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Yagnik said “creativity is the drive and ability to connect the seemingly unconnected in a significant way so as to improve our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.” He talked in detail about what creativity is and how it can be inculcated in means and methods of communication.

Apart from being interactive, the session proved to be thought-provoking as well. Dr. Yagnik also took the students through a creativity exercise known as “creative aerobics,” which was mind-opening for the students.

Earlier, welcoming the speaker, Head DCJ, Dr. Arif Nazir, asked students to encash this opportunity of interaction with an expert having international exposure. He advised students to remain focused while pursuing their degrees. Sr. Asst Prof. Dr. Asif Khan, said journalism is all about creativity and how creatively you present your product.

Presenting the vote of thanks, Sr. Asst Prof. Dr. John Babu Koyye described it as an inspirational lecture and an excellent psychological exercise. Dr. Nookaraju Bendukurthi and Dr. Akhtar Bhat Asst Profs were also present.
