AMRITSAR: An encounter broke out at Dharad village in Jandiala Guru area here on Wednesday.
Heavy police force headed by SSP Amritsar Rural Satinder Singh and SP Jugraj Singh has reached the spot.
A cop was reportedly injured in the incident.
Five criminals were hiding in the forest area near the canal. The police have surrounded the area and the firing is continuing.
The police have alerted the nearby villages and asked them to inform the police if any suspicious element enters their village.
