Chief Justice visits Kathua, inspects progress of ongoing works on District Court Complex

KATHUA: Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Justice Tashi Rabstan, accompanied by Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Administrative Judge for District Kathua today visited District Court Complex, Kathua and inspected the ongoing construction work of the new District Court Complex here.

On arrival, the Chief Justice was accorded ceremonial guard of honour. The Chief Justice and Administrative Judge were also accorded warm welcome by the Principal District And Sessions Judge, Kathua and other judicial officers, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, SSP, Kathua and the President and members of the Bar Association, Kathua.

During the visit, the Chief Justice and Administrative Judge closely monitored the ongoing construction works and made valuable suggestions to fine tune the new District Court complex as per the latest requirements and the guidelines applicable on the point to ensure that the new court complex is of the State of the art category.

The Chief justice and the Administrative Judge issued strict instructions to the executing agencies to complete the construction within the fixed time frame and avoid delay in order to obviate the possibility of escalation of the estimated costs.

The Chief Justice and Administrative Judge also discussed the issue of rising pendency of cases and impressed upon the judicial officers to expedite the disposal thereof with special emphasis on disposal of old cases. The Lordships also held detailed meetings with officers of the district administration Kathua and members of the bar association Kathua. The members of bar association Kathua were assured sympathetic consideration of their demands.

On the occasion, officers of the executing agencies associated with the construction of new court complex at Hiranagar, Billawar and Basohli through power point presentations briefed the Chief Justice and Administrative Judge about the latest position of the construction work.

Earlier the Lordships distributed wheel chairs among the differently abled individuals and distributed the cheques in favour of the MACT petitioners.
