Evaluates quality of teacher education programs

SRINAGAR:  A team from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), led by its Chairperson, Professor Pankaj Arora, today visited Government College of Education, M.A. Road here.

The visit aimed to evaluate the quality of teacher education programs offered by the institution and introduction of ITEP in the Institution.

The delegation included D.K. Chaturvedi, OSD, NCTE, Professor Zahoor Ahamd Geelani, Dean School of Education, Central University of Kashmir, Dr Firdaus Ahmad Sofal, Department of Education, Central University of Kashmir (CUK).

The team was warmly welcomed by the Principal of the College, Professor (Dr) Seema Naz, who expressed her gratitude for the visit and emphasized the importance of the NCTE’s support in uplifting the standards of teacher education in the region.

During their visit, the team interacted with the teaching faculty and students, focusing on the institution’s infrastructure, curriculum, teaching methodologies, and the challenges faced by the college in offering quality teacher education. The NCTE team also reviewed the college’s adherence to NCTE regulations and guidelines and explored avenues for strengthening Teacher Education.

The visit was a part of NCTE’s ongoing efforts to assess and improve teacher education across the UT of J&K and to ensure they meet the highest standards and contribute effectively to the development of skilled educators.
