TORONTO: The Canadian Embassy in India today advised potential travellers on how to identify immigration frauds and scams. The Embassy shared a link having information on scams. It listed out ways of finding scams run via Internet, email and telephone.

The Embassy advised newcomers to protect themselves by identifying such scams and report these to the authorities concerned.

It listed out measures for international students to protect themselves from fraud while applying for study permit. “It is the responsibility of students to provide correct information in the application. Providing false or misleading information can result in the rejection of application and the applicant can be banned from entering Canada for up to 5 years,” it says.

It stated that submitting false documents, lying on an application or cheating on a Canadian citizenship test could have serious consequences.
