Invites industrialists, business houses for investment in the district

BUDGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid today said that District Budgam has great potential to become number one destination in business sector.

The DC said this, while presiding over the first of its kind session “District Level Workshop regarding Ease of Doing Business and Single Window System” held at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus, Budgam.

The event was organised by District Administration Budgam in collaboration with District Industries Centre Budgam.

Giving open invitation to all industrialists and business houses for investment in the district, the DC emphasised that District Budgam has all propitious conditions like railway and air connectivity and is getting better road connectivity through the ongoing Ring Road project, thus, showing enhanced growth prospects for investment and private capital.

Extending full support to business sector, the DC said that it is the endeavour of district administration to ensure hassle- free handholding of investors across the district.

He said the workshop is aimed at bringing both investors and administration under one roof and making the stakeholders aware of the Single Window System established for investors/ entrepreneurs regarding ease of doing business and giving boost to the economic sector in the district.

The DC further said that similar events including an Investors Summit shall be held soon in the district to attract our youth towards the business sector and open the doors for employment creation for unemployed youth.

He said district administration has established a “District Investment Cell” to enable inter-departmental coordination to facilitate investors.

Speaking on the occasion, General Manager DIC Budgam, Irshad Ahmad said that the workshop is aimed to attract investment and provide better facilities to the entrepreneurs in the district.

GM DIC said that under various schemes, adequate financial assistance is provided to the entrepreneurs for their start ups and establishment of their business units in Budgam. He added that Rs 23 crores investment has been generated during the current financial year by formally registering the industrial units.

He said similarly three new industrial estates are being established including at Banderpora, Khag and Narbal to provide land and other facilities to the businessmen to establish their units.

Through a power point presentation, the participants were sensitized about how J&K revamped user friendly single windows system and its features.

Among others, Director NIFT, Javed Ahmad Wani, CEOs YDA, DDA, SDMs ACD, ACP, CMO, Tehsildars and other district officers were also present on the occasion.
