Block Diwas: Public Outreach programme held at Block Nagri

Active public participation key to achieve holistic development: DC

 KATHUA: As part of public outreach program, District Administration Kathua today organized Block Diwas at BDO Office Nagri where Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Pandey along with BDC Chairperson, Nagri Khazan Chand presided over the proceedings.

DDC Member Nagri, Sandeep Majotra, CPO Kathua, ACD Kathua, Chief Agriculture Officer, BDO Nagri, officers of various departments and PRI members were present on the occasion.

The people of Nagri and adjoining areas put forth demands seeking provision of better road connectivity, release of pending MGNREGA payments, hiring local labor for the development works, enhancing the rate of milk, release of pending payments of soakage pits, identification of state land for graveyard, non availability of construction material, organizing special camps for old age pension & widow pension, addressing the problem of stray animals, augmentation of drinking water supply, improving power supply scenario and other basic amenities.

After hearing the demands of the people, the DC passed on spot instructions to the concerned departments for time bound redress of all the issues.

He said that Block Diwas initiative was aimed at reaching out to the people and listening to their grievances and redressing them in an efficient and coordinated manner.

Appreciating the efforts of PRIs, the DC said that Block Diwas also offers an opportunity to highlight and appreciate the good initiatives of the PRI members so that others could also replicate their best practices so as to benefit the public at large.

The Deputy Commissioner called for active participation and cooperation of the general public so that development works could be completed smoothly without any hurdle.
