Local participation imperative for development: DC
BUDGAM: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid today chaired the Block Diwas programme at Panchayat Halqa Hufroo in Block Nagam.
The programme was held at Government Higher Secondary School, Hufroo, where local PRIs, respected elders and local youth delegations from villages Hufroo, Nowpora, Brinjan, Narpora, Loolipora and other adjacent villages raised their demands with the DC.
The DC gave them patient hearing and assured that all their genuine demands shall be addressed on priority.
Stressing on better Healthcare facilities, the DC instructed concerned to submit proposal for the creation of USG and Digital X- Ray facility at local PHC. He also directed concerned to connect the health institution to the uninterrupted hotline power supply.
The DC said that locals participation is imperative for the development of Budgam and instructed Revenue authorities to conduct a camp to address issues related to correction of land records of local farmers.
Instruction were also given for a joint camp to be organised by PDD, RDD, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry departments on April- 24.
He said the concerned departments shall ensure prompt services and on spot redressal to the genuine public grievances during the camp. Besides, concerned departments shall give awareness on different schemes including PM Kissan, PDD Amnesty Scheme, PM- Kusum and facilitate distribution of seed varieties, awareness regarding fertilizers, vaccination of livestock and form submission for various services to the general public.
The DC said that besides overall development of people, self-employment and cleanliness are among top priorities for District Administration in Budgam. He urged local unemployed youth to register under different self- employment schemes to open their own business ventures and become successful entrepreneurs.
Emphasizing on providing better road, transport, educational and health facilities, the DC also directed concerned for completion of ongoing works in a time bound manner.
He instructed PDD authorities to ensure execution of improvement works in a stipulated timeframe.
He urged locals to play an active role in curbing the drug menace from the society for a better society and safeguard the young generation. He also appealed to elders to ensure tight vigil that their wards remain away from drugs or any other social evil.
The DC gave directions to the concerned on carrying out protection works along the local Afzaer Kull to ensure adequate irrigation supply to local farmers.
He also took assessment of road development, drainage network and facilities related to drinking water, Sheep and Animal husbandry, Agriculture and other allied sectors being provided to locals by concerned offices.
Among others, ADDC, Dr Akramullah Tak, SDM Chadoora, Prince Noorul Hamid, AD Planning, BDO, ZEO, BMO and concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
