ANANTNAG: The weekly Block Diwas programme was today held in three blocks viz. Chittergul, Bijbehara and Verinag of the district.
On the occasion, several delegations registered their grievances. While some grievances were redressed on spot, others were taken up with concerned departments for time bound redressal.
At Chittergul, the event was presided over by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom.
Various demands and issues were raised by the PRIs, public and local representatives which include providing rakhs and farms for the local populace, release of 2nd instalment of PMAY, water supply distribution for Chittergul locality, additional staff for HSS Chowgam, ladies staff for Higher Secondary School Chittergul, installation of electric poles, upgradation of GMS Paison, identification of land for High school, rationalisation of teaching staff of schools in Chittergul block, issuance of FRA certificates etc.
Addressing the gathering, the DDC said that PRIs and officials have to redress grievances in a coordinated manner. He said formulation of district plans as per local demands and redressal of local issues is the main motive behind organising outreach programmes.
He laid emphasis on holding Gram Sabhas on every Monday of each month besides directing the officials of concerned departments to ensure their participation in Gram Sabhas. The concerned departments were directed on spot to address the issues raised during the diwas and other demands or issues to be redressed in a time bound manner.
DDC also emphasized on the need to spread awareness regarding various welfare schemes of the Government.
At Chitergul, the DDC was accompanied by BDC Chittergul, CPO, Executive Engineers of REW, R&B Vialoo, KPCDL, ACR, ACD, BMOs, BDOs, Tehsildar etc besides the concerned officials of various department.
At Bijbehara the Block Diwas was presided over by the ADDC Anantnag where people and PRIs raised the demand of adequate supply of water, scheduled supply of electricity during winter season, construction of additional roads, link roads, etc . Some of public demands and issues were redressed on spot and the officers concerned were directed to look seriously on the other issues and submit the action taken report.
Similar programme was organised at Verinag where Additional DC presided over the programme. While listening keenly to the demands and issues raised during the programme. ADC said that district administration is committed to address the genuine demands of people and directed the stakeholders to conduct Gram Sabhas every Monday of every month to get first-hand information about the issues.
