BANDIPORA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, on Friday chaired a meeting to review the preparations for the upcoming Wullar Festival, scheduled to be held at Wullar Vantage Park, Bandipora in the month of February.

During the meeting threadbare discussions were held on various measures to ensure the successful organization of the festival, aimed at promoting tourism in the District.

DC emphasized the importance of showcasing local cultural heritage and involving various departments and locals to create a vibrant and inclusive event.

It was decided that stalls highlighting cultural heritage and tourism promotion will be set up by various departments including WUCMA, Horticulture, Agriculture, Handicrafts, Handloom, ICDS, Tourism, Fisheries, KVIB, NRLM, DIC, besides local communities and conservation groups.

The meeting also discussed measures to organise various activities including Wullar Angling Competition, Shikara Race, Cycle Race, Painting Competition besides other recreational and cultural activities.

The concerned officers from the Department of Education and Tourism were directed to organize cultural programmes involving performances such as Kashmiri folk songs, Gojri songs, and Shina songs involving local communities to ensure an inclusive and engaging experience for all attendees.

Addressing the officers, Qadri urged all concerned departments to ensure that preparations are completed in advance for the successful conduct of the event.

He called for meticulous coordination among departments to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the event besides highlighted the festival as an opportunity to boost the local economy and create a platform for tourism promotion.

The meeting was attended by DPO, CPO, Coordinator WUCMA, District officers from various departments, and other stakeholders.
